His Work, His Art

Isaac Mejia has been a friend for a dozen years or more.  Isaac is an artist.  His art is making people happy.  And, he is very good at it.

Isaac owns a small restaurant in San Bruno, California called Don Pico’s.  It’s one of his many business investments.  But its also where his heart is.  It seats about 70 people.  The establishment was opened by his father and mother in 1975.  Both long time San Bruno residents, they immigrated from the Mexican State of Sonora.  His mother did all the cooking, using traditional family recipes.  His father ran the “front of the house.”  Isaac and his sisters worked with their parents growing up.

From a childhood steeped in great food and generous hospitality, Isaac went on to study cooking from Master Chefs throughout the world, including Japan, Italy, Spain, Peru and Mexico.  When he took over the restaurant in 1999, he was not only a Master Chef but a larger than life raconteur and an elegant space designer.  Don Pico’s warmly welcomes you without pretention.
